Vocational Assessments

Providing clear, defensible vocational analyses that integrate standardized assessment, transferable skills review, and current labour market data to identify realistic, evidence‑based employment and training pathways for each client.

Transferrable Skills Analysis

We deliver comprehensive Transferable Skills Analyses (TSAs) to identify realistic, suitable, and vocationally supportable occupational options. Each evaluation is informed by a detailed review of work history, education, training, and experience, alongside functional limitations, wage benchmarks, and geographic labour market considerations. Where appropriate, we also identify relevant upskilling opportunities and targeted labour market findings to support practical return-to-work or alternate occupational pathways. The result is a clear, defensible, and actionable report that outlines viable transferable occupations.

Vocational Evaluations

When a Transferable Skills Analysis (TSA) does not identify realistic occupational options—whether due to limited work history, higher pre-disability earnings, complex vocational barriers, or the need for retraining—a Vocational Evaluation offers a more comprehensive level of assessment. This process may include standardized psychometric testing, combined with a detailed review of education, employment history, functional limitations, and other relevant vocational factors. These findings are integrated with labour market conditions and earning context to support a clear, defensible opinion regarding vocational potential, employability, and realistic career pathways. The result is a thorough and objective evaluation that supports informed decision-making in disability matters, litigation, and rehabilitation planning.

AB/Post-104 Assessments

This comprehensive assessment is designed for individuals who have reached the post-104-week stage of an accident benefits claim and continue to experience functional limitations that may affect employability. The evaluation considers current vocational capacity, transferable skills, and realistic occupational options through clinical interview, standardized testing where appropriate, and targeted labour market research. The final report provides a clear, evidence-based opinion regarding employability, return-to-work potential, and alternate occupational pathways, supporting case planning and benefit-related decision-making.

Labour Market Surveys

Our Labour Market Surveys provide a detailed analysis of one or more occupations to support a clear understanding of local employment conditions. We compile current information from multiple sources, including wage data, occupational outlooks, and active job postings. Where appropriate, the process may also include review of provincially published wage surveys and direct employer outreach to confirm compensation, availability, and hiring conditions. The result is an objective, well-documented report outlining occupational availability, wage context, and relevant job demands to support defensible vocational planning and decision-making.

Report Critique

A report critique or rebuttal desk review provides an objective and well-supported analysis of third-party vocational reports that may influence litigation, disability matters, or benefit decisions. Conducted by certified vocational experts, these reviews evaluate the methodology, vocational reasoning, occupational analysis, and evidentiary foundation underlying the opinions presented.

Our critiques may consider:

  • methodological rigour and alignment with professional standards

  • the relevance, suitability, and supportability of occupational options identified

  • the evidentiary basis for conclusions regarding employability, work capacity, or benefit entitlement

The result is a clear and defensible review that highlights strengths, limitations, and issues requiring clarification, supporting informed decision-making in rebuttal, appeal, and litigation contexts.

Quality Assurance & Peer Review

Quality Assurance and Peer Review services are available for colleagues seeking objective, practice-informed feedback on vocational reports, case analysis, and assessment methodology. Reviews are designed to strengthen clarity, consistency, vocational reasoning, and the overall defensibility of conclusions. This service may be used as a final quality check, for support on complex files, or as part of ongoing professional development and practice refinement.

Psycho-Vocational Evaluations

A psychovocational assessment provides an integrated analysis of how cognitive, emotional, psychological, and behavioural factors may affect employability, work capacity, and overall vocational functioning. It is particularly valuable in cases involving mental health conditions, cognitive impairment, trauma-related symptoms, or other complex psychosocial barriers.

Using comprehensive interview, standardized testing where appropriate, behavioural observation, and review of relevant background information, the assessment identifies vocational strengths, functional limitations, and realistic occupational pathways. The final report provides a clear, evidence-based opinion to support disability matters, litigation, and rehabilitation planning, and may include recommendations for accommodations, supports, and vocational interventions where appropriate.

Employability Assessments

This assessment provides a structured, evidence-based analysis of an individual’s capacity for sustained employment within the competitive labour market. It is commonly used in matters involving Section B accident benefits, Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Disability benefits, including applications, benefit reviews, and appeals. The process may include a comprehensive interview, Transferable Skills Analysis (TSA), and an objective evaluation of vocational potential.

Conducted by certified vocational experts, the assessment integrates clinical information with occupational data and regional labour market conditions to support a clear, defensible opinion regarding employability, retraining potential, and realistic occupational outcomes. The result is a well-supported report that assists insurers, legal professionals, and government programs in making informed decisions.

Employability and Earning Capacity Assessments

This assessment evaluates an individual’s capacity to sustain employment following injury or illness, with particular focus on employability, residual earning capacity, and potential vocational loss. The analysis considers education, work history, functional limitations, and labour market conditions to determine realistic occupational options, likely impact on earnings, and whether retraining or other mitigation strategies may be appropriate. The result is a clear, defensible opinion regarding vocational impairment and loss of earning capacity.
